Community Guidelines

Last updated: March 2026

PatternMD is built on trust, anonymity, and genuine human connection. These guidelines exist to keep it that way.

Our principles
🤝
Be honest

Only share your real experiences. Do not fabricate symptoms, triggers, or ME TOOs. Authentic data helps everyone in the community.

🔒
Protect anonymity

Never share information that could identify yourself or anyone else. Do not attempt to figure out who other users are in real life. Anonymity is what makes PatternMD safe.

💚
Be kind

You're talking to real people who are dealing with real health struggles. Treat every PMD-ID with the same respect you'd want for yourself.

💊
Medication list is private

Your medication list is private and only visible to you and your connected provider. Never use the medication list to store information about other individuals. Never share another person's medication information without their explicit consent.

🩺
Don't give medical advice

You can share what worked for you. You cannot tell others what to do medically. Say 'this helped me' not 'you should do this.' Always encourage others to consult a doctor. Remember — medication data on PatternMD is self-reported and not clinically validated.

💬
Use DMs responsibly

Direct messages are a privilege, not a right. DMs are only available after genuine community interaction. Never use DMs to harass, pressure, solicit, or send unwanted content. The other person can decline any request — respect that without question.

🏥
Provider connections are voluntary

Connecting to a provider is entirely your choice. PatternMD will never share your data with a provider without your explicit consent. When connected, your provider can see your symptom posts, Care Thread messages, medication list, and health data. Your personal journal notes (My Notes) are always private — your provider never sees them. You can disconnect from any provider at any time in Settings. Providers may also remove patients from their account at any time. Your anonymous community experience is never affected by whether you have a provider connected.

📷
Provider photo is private

You can optionally upload a photo to help your connected provider identify you. This photo is only visible to your connected provider — it is never shown in the community, search results, or to any other users. You can remove it anytime from Settings, and it is deleted when you delete your account.

🌡️
Environmental data is automatic & private

PatternMD silently captures weather, air quality, and pollen data when you log a symptom. This happens automatically using your ZIP code and is used only to help you spot personal environmental triggers on your Patterns page. This data is never visible to other users.

🌸
Menstrual & sexual health data is completely private

If you use the Cycle tracker in the Journal, your period data, moods, symptoms, sexual activity, and libido are stored with the highest level of privacy. This data is NEVER shared with your connected doctor, other users, or any third party. Only you can see it. You can delete any entry at any time.

🚫
No harassment

Harassment, bullying, threats, or targeted attacks of any kind are not tolerated. This includes posts, replies, follow-ups, and direct messages.

📢
No spam or advertising

Do not post promotional content, affiliate links, product recommendations with commercial intent, or anything designed to drive traffic elsewhere.

🎮
Play TAPMD fairly

TAPMD game leaderboard scores are public. Play fairly — any manipulation of scores may result in account action.

🏥 Provider Connection
🏥 Provider Connection Guidelines

The Connect to Provider feature is optional and entirely patient-driven. You choose which hospital and which doctor to connect with. Your doctor will be notified of your request and must accept before any data is shared. Once connected, your provider can see your symptom posts, Care Thread messages, medication list, and health data. You can also upload an optional photo visible only to your connected provider to help them identify you — this photo is never shown in the community or to any other users. Your personal journal notes (My Notes) are always private — your doctor never sees them. This is by design — the goal is to give your doctor real symptom and medication data to help your care. You can disconnect at any time. Providers may also remove patients from their account at any time. Your anonymous community experience is completely separate — other community members never know you have a provider connected.

💬 DM Rules
💬 Direct Message Rules

DMs on PatternMD are designed to be safe, consensual, and ephemeral. You can only message someone after a genuine interaction — a ME TOO or a reply. They must accept your request before any chat opens. All messages disappear permanently after 24 hours. If someone declines your request, do not attempt to contact them again. Misuse of DMs is treated as a serious violation and may result in permanent account termination.

✓ Messages vanish in 24h
✓ No recovery possible

⚖️ Consequences

Violations of these guidelines may result in content removal, a temporary account suspension, or permanent account termination depending on the severity and frequency of the violation. Severe violations such as attempting to de-anonymize users, DM harassment, or posting harmful medical misinformation will result in immediate permanent termination.

💚 PatternMD works because people show up honestly. Every post you make, every ME TOO you tap, every reply you leave — it helps someone feel less alone. Keep it real. Keep it kind. Keep it anonymous.
