Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website or use a web app. They help the app remember information about your visit — like whether you're logged in. PatternMD uses only the cookies strictly necessary to operate the platform.
2. How PatternMD Uses Cookies
PatternMD uses cookies exclusively for authentication and session management. When you sign in, a secure session cookie is stored on your device to keep you logged in between visits. This cookie contains no personal health information and is never shared with any third party. Without this cookie, you would be signed out every time you close the app.
3. Authentication Cookies
Our authentication is powered by Supabase. When you log in, Supabase sets a secure, HTTP-only session token cookie. This token is used solely to verify your identity on subsequent requests. It contains an encrypted reference to your account — not your email, not your anonymous ID, and no health data. This cookie expires automatically when your session ends or after 7 days of inactivity.
4. Analytics
PatternMD does not use any third-party analytics cookies such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising-related tracking technology. We do not build profiles of our users for advertising purposes. Any internal usage data we collect to understand platform performance is fully anonymized and does not rely on cookies.
5. Cookies We Do NOT Use
PatternMD does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site cookies of any kind. We do not use cookies from Facebook, Google, TikTok, or any other advertising or social media platform. We do not use cookies to identify you across other websites or apps. We do not sell or share cookie data with any third party.
6. Local Storage
In addition to cookies, PatternMD uses your browser's local storage to remember your language preference (English or Spanish) and certain UI settings. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
7. Native Mobile App
The PatternMD mobile app does not use browser cookies and does not implement cross-app tracking because it does not track users for advertising purposes. Authentication is handled via secure on-device storage, which is protected by hardware encryption and biometric authentication. No cookie consent banner is shown in the mobile app. No data collected in the mobile app is shared with advertisers or data brokers.
8. Your Choices
Because PatternMD only uses strictly necessary authentication cookies, cookie consent banners are not legally required in most jurisdictions. However, you can clear your cookies at any time through your browser settings. Clearing your session cookie will sign you out of PatternMD. You can also use private browsing mode, which discards all cookies when the session ends.
9. Third-Party Links
PatternMD may contain links to external websites — for example, our sponsor partners' websites. Once you leave PatternMD, this Cookie Policy no longer applies. We encourage you to review the cookie policies of any external sites you visit.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting a notice on the platform. Continued use of PatternMD after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
